Regaining mitochondrial energy loss

Question:

I have had a serious medical issue for close to 17 years that makes it hard for me to recover after expending physical energy. I contracted an extremely virulent version of Epstein Barr Virus and I need help in understanding how exactly to regain the energy in my mitochondrial portion of my cells after a workout? I have tons of energy for a little while then I can spend days in bed trying to recuperate from expending all of my energy. If I ride my bike for an hour, it can take 3 days. If I grocery shop for an hour, it can take 1-2 days before I can do anything else.

Years ago I used to spend 4-5 hours in the gym, working out with weights, hundreds of situps, pushups, pullups , etc., daily. I would also ride my bike for 100-150 miles per week and also take karate, dance and aqua aerobics classes. I was in great shape before I got sick!

I get a teeny bit better with every passing year from this long-term virus, but I wonder if there is an easier way to recover other than sleeping 12-16 hour days to regenerate my depleted mitochondria?

Is there a supplement, mineral, amino acid or enzyme I could take that will speed up this recovery process?

I purchased your products because I am hoping a 10 minute workout won't kill me and help me get into better shape faster!

Thank you for your help in suggesting a few things that can speed up my recovery time!

Answer:

I'd really love to help you, but this is the sort of thing that needs to be done in person. Are you nearby Langhorne, PA? I could set you up with our top Master Physical Therapist, who's trained directly by me.

Essentially, this takes the following:

  1. Exercise Tolerance Test (tests precisely the moment your body fatigues)
  2. Charting your response to exercise
  3. Eliminating other variables
  4. Using diet as a constant while testing exercise and vice versa
  5. Working with you to refine your program to make more sense for your body

Obviously, I'd love to give you the answers, but I woudln't know without knowing you, in specific. hope this helps!
