After my workout I always feel really tired. As in sleepy tired. I always leave the gym, thinking "when I get home I'm going straight to bed". However, by the time I get home (10-20 mins later) I'm not tired anymore.
Do you have any idea what causes this 'dip' in energy? I was once told that it is the increase in growth hormones which are released when your body is building (restoring) muscle. Could this be it?
Is there anything I can do about this?
Answer:
Yep, there's a great reason for the depleted energy after your workout: Energy System Training
By working all 3 energy systems in your body, you are ka-put after any workout, but your body recovers quickly. For a faster recovery response, try some quick carbs and protein after a workout. Personally, I like the prograde workout shake.
