I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction of any resources on training nutrition advice during the Islamic month of Ramadan. I was sick last year and I'm making up for it starting in June, and will fast again in August for Ramadan 2011.
I don't have a great resource for you regarding nutritional advice for Ramadan, unfortunately. However, I am very familiar with this, as I've fasted for years myself, and I'd like to offer you some advice. The key is to eat breakfast, and have it heavy in proteins and fats. Then, at night, start with some quick carbs to boost your energy and make sure to hydrate as your priority. Often times, it's best to eat a snack, focus on hydration for a half hour, and then eat (again, high in proteins and good fats to store more energy.) There is definite sacrifice taking place with Ramadan, so be patient. You're doing this for a higher cause, but it's very doable.
